SEMIP Viewer Mockup

last modified Jun 04, 2009 09:27 PM

A mockup of the interactive SEMIP Viewer being built to allow browsing and downloading of test case data, analysis results, and shared datasets.

SEMIP Viewer Home MockupThe SEMIP Viewer

The SEMIP Viewer is an interactive website being built to allow users to:

  • Browse and view analysis results
  • Download test case initialization data
  • Download shared datasets

The SEMIP Viewer's interactive browsing capabilities will compliment this website's documentation capabilities and provide more graphical tools.

The Viewer is currently being designed and programmed by Sonoma Technology, Inc. as part of the JFSP SEMIP grant.  It is expected to begin operations for fiscal year 2010.

SEMIP Viewer Analysis Results Mockup
Viewing analysis results

Perhaps the single biggest piece of the Viewer is its ability to let users interactively browse SEMIP analysis results.  Users can select by Test Case, by Modeling Step, or by Region and view the correspond analysis datasets.  Depending on the analysis, maps, time series, other graphics, tables, and text will be available.  See the Analysis section for more information on types of output.

The SEMIP Viewer will allow users to see both the big picture, through maps and other larger scale analysis outputs, and then gain more information on selected pieces by clicking on the location or point of interest.

SEMIP Viewer Dataset Search MockupFinding datasets

The SEMIP Viewer will allow users to search for datasets and analyses by location and/or date range.  This interactive search will cut across all types of data shared through the Viewer so a user who is searching for analysis results may end up finding observational data of interest to them as well.

In general the SEMIP Viewer will allow users to download raw data that is:

Input data for test cases

This feature allows a modeler to obtain the initialization data and run the test case for their model in order to submit the results back into the SEMIP analysis, but without the need to port or share their model directly.

Requested to be shared by SEMIP

Observational and model datasets that are sent to SEMIP are not shared unless the data owner allows it.  If they do, we will happily share the data through SEMIP.

NOTE:  All data submitted to SEMIP is designed to be quality assured by the owner.  Because of the quantity of data involved in SEMIP and difficulty in qa/qc'ing data that is not yours, SEMIP makes no claims about data shared through its systems.  However, all data is examined for quality assurance in the analysis process of SEMIP.  We may contact you to ask for assistance when using your data.
